      Madison County:
Brookfield Trail System, Brookfield, NY. Not too simple, limited singletrack (30 minutes south of Utica). (X-C).
      http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/8243.html
Ability level: Beginner/Intermediate. Fun trails, definitely in the woods. Good for group rides. Can be muddy, occaisional horse poop. Camping.

      Hamilton County, Southern Adirondacks:
Inlet, NY. Singletrack and open (about an hour north of Utica).(X-C).
Phone the bike shop below for trail info. There are lots of trails.
      http://pedalsandpetals.com/index.cfm
Ability level: All can enjoy, the Adirondacks are real trail country and very beautiful. Terrain is forest, roots, rocks, logs and sandy soil. Can be muddy. Camping.

      Onandaga County:
Highland Forest, Fabius, NY, Singletrack and open (Just east of Syracuse). (X-C).
      http://onondagacountyparks.com/parks/highland/
Ability level: All will enjoy this pine forest with lots of roots, logs, rolling, curvey, and a few man-made things. Big race here each year. The banner at the top of the website shows an amusement park for some reason. Phone about camping.

      Lewis County, Northern Adirondacks:
Otter Creek State Forest, Lowville, NY (way up there!) Open trails, little technical riding. (X-C).
      http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/8017.html
Ability level: Beginner/Intermediate. Trails somewhat wide. Beautiful setting. Sand in places. Occaisional horse poop. Camping.

There is a wealth of info on trails at the wnymba site

      You summed up erie county

but cattaraugus has Mccarty Hill/Rock City State forest in Ellicottville (~35 miles of singletrack intermediate to advanced 500'+ climbs huge rocks everywhere)
as well as Golden Hill SF up the road in little valley? about 10 miles of intermediate singletrack, some rocks and tech. spots

trails in Nine mile creek SF is being built

Allegheny state park has around 25 miles of official bike and ski dirt road type trail but there is probably close to a hundred miles of other trails that arent great and bikes arent permitted but nobody will bother you

letchworth in genessee county a straight 20 mile trail. the trail is nuts. it is constant up and down but is badly eroded in many places

      see wnymba for more
